Bluegrass bass player Jack Cooke died on December 1, 2009, in Norton, Virginia, at the age of 72. Cooke played with the Stanley Brothers in the early 1950s, and with Bill Monroe and his Bluegrass Boys in the late 1950s. In 1970 he joined Ralph Stanley’s Clinch Mountain Boys, with whom he had a 38-year career.
